SCI-GEMS^© is proprietary technology designed to support diverse interactive marketing via scalable networks in real time.  Major hardware components of SCI-GEMS^© are RIVADS^© systems, MPU's, PPU's, and a HUB.

The SCI-RIVADS^© (REAL-TIME, INTERACTIVE, VIDEO, AUDIO, DATA, SATELLITE) system is used to receive, store, manage, display, and act, on services provided by GEMS supported networks.  The RIVADS^© system consists of a small satellite dish, computer data terminal, and audio / video unit.  The RIVADS^© system is located at the Network Affiliate's place of business and is used to interact with a particular network's HUB.

The NETWORK BROADCAST complex signal program information stream is selectively received at the Affiliate's site by the RIVADS^© system.  The RIVADS^© computer extracts the selected video, audio, and data from the complex program signal.  The RIVADS^© computer as requested by the user then controls instant or delayed output of this information.  Integrated or multi-display VAD (video, audio, data) presentation of the multi-media database depends on the particular network architecture chosen for use.  All VAD programming is linked to and follows the relational data requests made by the user via the terminal keyboard or mouse.

Local or remote program presentation to the Affiliate's customer is accomplished by using the primary monitor or additional units driven directly by the RIVADS^© system, or optional SCI hardware systems.  Optional ARROWS (Automated Remote Retail Operations Work Stations) or RVADS^© (Remote Video Audio Data Systems) are available to support various RIVADS^© distributed system functions.  Affiliates may also modify network source programs via an optional RIVADS^© Edit System to locally distribute delayed, customized programming for public viewing at remote sites within their territory.

Typical remote presentation sites Affiliates might use are banks, shopping centers, office buildings, or other high-visibility locations.  RVADS^© optional remote hardware packages provide reliable, unattended, programming to the affiliate at a low monthly cost.
