An SCI subsidiary company established to support the operations needs of SCI and SCI-GEMS© licensed networks and other general market industries.

OVERVIEW

STN© will provide regular and interactive satellite distribution and computerized trading services to companies who sell, trade, auction or service specific markets requiring wide-area transactions systems. The prime STN© mission is to support network users and Ad-Hoc network contract services via operation and management of satellite, video broadcasting, cable syndication and computerized automatic transaction systems using SCAVITS© and SCI-GEMS© technology.

SERVICES

STN© services will include procurement of space time, production of programs, satellite uplinking, cable syndication, data lines networking, fixed and mobile video production, data communications, subcarrier services, ad-hoc networks, and all other operational SCAVITS© support services.

SYSTEM AUTOMATION

All STN© services are SCAVITS©‑automation, geared to assure high speed response, productivity, quality and cost effectiveness. Human resources are therefore focused on creative presentation and innovation for the client's benefit.

ORGANIZATION

STN© is comprised of three operational groups providing common support for both in‑house and contract service missions. The operational groups are HUB, Mobile and Field Service. All customer premises hardware installation and ongoing maintenance is contracted to SCI's national dealer organization. Hub and Mobile operations are manned by STN© staff, as are General Administration and Marketing Departments.

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION

Classical corporate control tasks such as Accounting, Clerical, Facility / Asset use management, Personnel, etc. are functions of the General Administration group. This group is totally computerized and uses expert systems technology to reduce GA loading on the corporation's revenue producing groups.

HUB OPERATIONS

The Hub Operations group is staffed by technical, artistic, and management personnel skilled in interactive computer, satellite broadcast, television production, satellite news gathering, and advanced telecommunications networking. This group operates all hardware and software located at the hub. Their task is to provide SCAVITS© and SCI-GEMS© technical, production and broadcasting support to meet STN©'s in‑house and network customer need.

MOBILE OPERATION

STN© provides both national and international SCAVITS© and SCI-GEMS© network services via regional and foreign country MPU's and MBU's. These Mobile Production Units and Mobile Broadcast Units are vehicle mounted or in some cases air transportable production and satellite broadcast systems enhanced with SCI-GEMS© computer and digital control gear. Generation of customer's programming and its input to STN© is accomplished by these units. Simple audio / video listing tasks through major special event on site interactive broadcasting can be handled by these units.

MARKETING

Marketing of all STN© network services is done by SCI. Marketing of Ad-Hoc services is accomplished by a small in‑house STN© staff derived from the STN© customer service group. Foreign marketing is provided by SCIMARCO© (Synergy Concepts International Marketing Company), a multinational trading agency cooperative.

CLIENTS

The STN© will service any established entity requiring SCAVITS© support services. Some examples are E-Media advertising firms, travel agents, realty companies, banks, auctioneers, commodity vendors, equipment and machinery vendors, freight companies, developers, etc. National and International markets will be served via time segmented programming attuned to specific markets. Effectively, ANY seller who wants to publicly offer for sale any product or service and requires or desires a real-time, interactive response to his offer can be accommodated.

Unique advantages available to the STN© customer are very short lead times, low cost, high visibility and a coupled transaction processing system which separate the STN© service from ALL others. No existing service offers a TOTALLY INTERACTIVE data / audio / video‑automated system.

STN© uses SCI's proprietary SCAVITS© and SCI-GEMS© technology. SCAVITS© technology is totally automated. Pre‑production, source production, post‑production and live production are all digital computer integrated and controlled. Short lead times, a flexible quality product, good budgetary control and on‑time delivery are all benefits of the SCAVITS© technology used by STN©.

SCI-GEMS© technology extends the use and benefits of SCAVITS© technology to interactive applications. Whether used locally or globally, SCI-GEMS© provides the user an "off‑the‑shelf", satellite‑based, interactive two‑way, location independent solution for simultaneous video, audio and data programming. Permanent or Ad-Hoc SCI-GEMS© is customer-definable, easy to use, highly reliable and low cost.

High priced items of limited interest such as heavy construction equipment, machinery, industrial products, ships, houses, commercial property, businesses, etc. can be presented directly to the buyer's location. These buyers can be qualified prior to formal confidential direct negotiations. Sellers can quickly test a market in confidence. And, since STN© provides turnkey technology services, the client is free to concentrate on business, not technology.

COSTS

STN© direct costs are primarily space time, production, uplink and computer hardware related. Product marketing costs, once the service is initiated, can be greatly reduced by using the system itself to attract a wide client user base in a very short time.
